Ukraine Brings Putin’s War Home
Ukrainian drones struck warehouses across Russia, killing workers and setting logistics facilities ablaze as Kyiv intensified a campaign designed to disrupt the economy supporting Vladimir Putin’s invasion and force Russians to confront the costs of his war.
Drones hit warehouse facilities in the Moscow, Tver and Leningrad regions, including sites connected to Wildberries and Lenta, two pillars of Russia’s consumer economy. Five people were killed and ten injured in a fire at a warehouse in Chekhov, while other attacks damaged facilities near St. Petersburg and in Tver.
Russia said hundreds of Ukrainian drones were launched across numerous regions. Kyiv describes the attacks as pressure on infrastructure serving Moscow’s war effort after years of Russian missile and drone strikes against Ukrainian cities, power systems and businesses. The expanding reach of the campaign is steadily eroding Putin’s ability to keep the conflict distant from everyday Russian life.
